Joint Strength

Several different types of steel joints encountered in steel structures were investigated on real projects. In each case the members joining into the assembly were modelled as shell elements with relative ease including creation of intersections, a feat not easily accomplishable in other commercial FEA programs in RFEM's category.

Case (i) Console in typical finnish frame construction was modelled to investigate local stress.

Case (ii) Truss joint strength consisting of different RHS sizes was investigated while 5 separate truss configurations were considered. Quick conversion of bar to shell surfaces was extremely handy.
